Supplier Diversity Policy Statement

John Muir Health’s (JMH’s) purchasing practices are designed to provide equal access and opportunity to all suppliers and prohibit discriminatory business relationships. It is the aim of JMH to provide all segments of Contra Costa County and the surrounding areas with a full, fair and meaningful opportunity to participate in its contracts regardless of race, gender or ethnic origin. JMH is committed to creating a group of suppliers in its supply chain that represent the diversity in the communities we serve. JMH encourages and supports the participation of historically underutilized businesses that can successfully compete for prime or sub-contracting opportunities.

How does your hospital encourage and seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?

JMH's supplier diversity program is designed to contribute to the economic health and reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. It includes, but is not limited to: • Implementing a collaborative supplier diversity program to meet Marin Health existing and future vendor needs. • Identifying contracting opportunities in which we ensure that diverse businesses could bid competitively while following the Marin Health vendor process. • Identifying diverse businesses to bid on opportunities throughout the company. Marin Health Supply Chain team sources all goods and services for Marin Health Medical Center. Our sourcing department identifies qualified suppliers for bid opportunities and works with those suppliers to become successful Supply Chain partners. Vendors with products and services that are potentially suitable for Marin Health are encouraged to complete a vendor profile to be considered for current and future projects.

How does your hospital encourage its employees involved in procurement to seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?

JMH Employees with contracting/sourcing responsibilities are required to: a. Conduct a thorough search using available tools to identify diverse suppliers for every applicable contracting and purchasing opportunity. b. Integrate diverse suppliers in all phases of the contracting/purchasing process and define strategies to promote/enhance diverse supplier participation where opportunities exist. c. Collaborate with WRMSDC to find suppliers for upcoming contracts or purchases. d. Respond to diverse supplier referrals from WRMSDC in a timely manner. e. Continue to utilize and develop diverse suppliers who perform well. f. Review monthly performance reports to identify key strategies to increase spend with diverse suppliers. g. Attend periodic training on supplier diversity strategies and practices. h. Offer debriefing to diverse suppliers upon request.

How does your hospital conduct outreach and communication to minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises?

JMH’s Small Business Enterprise Program Office will continue to develop formal practices to ensure communication and participation by external S/HUB-related organizations and agencies in assisting JMH to establish objectives for identification and participation. Outreach to these organizations and agencies will continue to be focused on establishing communications that inform, facilitate networking, and assist in the overall development and management of system goals. JMH’s Small Business Enterprise Program Office, along with other JMH department representatives, shall participate in sponsored activities and work with these organizations and agencies as the external partners for generating support and participation by the S/HUB communities. The Office shall maintain a list of the relevant organizations and agencies where JMH is actively involved. JMH identifies diverse suppliers by participating in and supporting trade fairs, networking events, and sourcing for diverse suppliers from applicable business associations and organizations. JMH encourages contracting employees to use diverse suppliers by referring diverse suppliers, monitoring performance, and conducting training to promote the use of diverse suppliers.
