At Oak Valley Hospital District, we believe our suppliers, like our employees, should reflect the communities we serve. We proactively seek diverse suppliers. To support our community, we must include the broadest range of people, ideas, products and services possible. Our Vendor Diversity program does just that. We do everything we can to ensure that the diversity-owned businesses are afforded equal opportunity to participate in our procurement process. How does your hospital encourage and seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?

Many of our purchases are limited t companies that participate in our group purchasing organization, which often has the lowest prices for our organization. We are requesting lists for potential diverse suppliers for organization that provide them, such as the National Veterans Business Development Council, the National Minority Supplier Council, the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, Women Business Enterprise National Council, The US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce, and the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. We will invite organizations from the lists to bid on suppling items to us.

How does your hospital support organizations that promote or certify minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises?

As a small stand alone District Hospital is often hard to get competitive bids without going through our group purchasing organization. Through our group purchasing organization we try to use as many minority, women, LGBT and disabled veteran we can. We also support those groups at our local area retailers if possible. Our hospital also educates staff members on LGBT, minority, disabled veterans, etc.
