Supplier Diversity Policy Statement

Banner Health values and celebrates diversity and inclusion within its business partnerships and the communities it serves. Banner Health is committed to supporting the economic development of its local communities through partnerships with diverse suppliers and small businesses. The Banner Health Supplier Diversity Program serves to promote and foster supplier diversity and inclusion in both procurement and construction. A strong diverse supplier base enables Banner Health to support local businesses and offer greater opportunities to the communities we serve by helping build an inclusive economy that works and is here for everyone.

How does your hospital encourage and seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?

Banner Health encourages and seeks out diverse suppliers through its supplier portal, partnership with diverse supplier advocacy organizations, and Premier group purchasing organization (GPO) contracts with diverse suppliers. Premier is nationally recognized for its efforts in developing the tools and opportunities for diverse businesses to successfully engage the healthcare market.

How does your hospital encourage its employees involved in procurement to seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?

Banner Health has established a Supplier Diversity Council to champion supplier diversity within the organization and with external stakeholders. In 2023, Banner Health hired a dedicated FTE to lead the Supplier Diversity Program. The Supplier Diversity Program Manager is responsible for collaborating with Banner Health leaders and diverse supplier advocacy organizations to identify and connect qualified diverse suppliers to procurement opportunities when possible. Additionally, the Supplier Diversity Program Manager works closely with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) to coordinate with the Team Member Resource Groups to increase awareness of Banner's commitment to supplier diversity and how they and their teams can help. Banner Health also supports and utilizes GPO contracts with diverse suppliers.

How does your hospital conduct outreach and communication to minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises?

At Banner Health, we recognize our responsibility to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion throughout every part of our organization. While our Diversity and Inclusion Council became official in 2015, we are committed to doing more in our efforts. Banner Health formally launched its Supplier Diversity Program in Q4 2023. The program includes a supplier portal for identifying and engaging with diverse suppliers. Additionally, Banner Health hired a Supplier Diversity Program Manager in 2023. The Supplier Diversity Program Manager collaborates with community partners, chambers of commerce, and diverse supplier advocacy organizations to outreach diverse suppliers and keep them apprised of Banner’s diversity commitments and potential procurement opportunities.

How does your hospital support organizations that promote or certify minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises?

Banner Health is a corporate member of the Pacific Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council (PSWMSDC), Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), and the Women's Business Enterprise Council - West (WBEC-West). Banner Health is also a member of the Healthcare Anchor Network (HAN) and signatory of the HAN Impact Purchasing Commitment. We engage and support the PSWMSDC and WBEC-West at their events where we network with diverse businesses and peer organizations. We also attend industry events to identify diverse businesses that are focused in the healthcare industry.
