Outreach and Communication

How does your hospital encourage and seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?

Encompass Health promotes supplier outreach and development programs to build relationships with more diverse business partners to maximize value for all our stakeholders. Specifically, Encompass Health is involved with organizations that certify diverse businesses in order to increase its awareness of opportunities to utilize diverse suppliers. Encompass Health participates in vendor fairs with space for diverse suppliers. Furthermore, Encompass Health solicits supplier diversity information in its bid process and the information informs Encompass Health in awarding contracts. Finally, Encompass Health's supply chain department contracts with national diverse suppliers to be utilized by its hospital operations.

How does your hospital encourage its employees involved in procurement to seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?

Encompass Health has established a supplier diversity committee comprised of members of Encompass Health's national supply chain department, local hospital controllers and the members of the purchase leadership board. The committee assists hospitals in identifying and contracting with diverse suppliers through participation in vendor fairs, maintaining memberships with organizations that certify diverse businesses and creation of partnerships with local business schools.

Encompass Health participates in vendor fairs with space for diverse suppliers. Encompass Health's group purchasing organization offers a diverse supplier program that provides Encompass Health access to a portfolio of diverse suppliers.
