CommonSpirit Health is committed to providing access to business opportunities for women, ethnic minorities, veterans, and LGBTQ+ communities interested in providing business solutions to support our delivery of healthcare. We are guided by the best practices of our Supply Chain GPO priorities and committed to local and regional purchases where possible. Core to our mission is the advancing of health equity which includes addressing the social determinants of health utilizing tools of supply chain diversity, local economies, and environmental sustainability.

Outreach and Communication
How does your hospital encourage and seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?
CommonSpirit identifies diverse vendors through: - Active Contract List identifying vendors contracted through our GPO, provided monthly. - Diverse Vendor database available through a third party supplier diversity vendor. - Vendor diversity self-identification by vendor during RFP and contracting process. - Direct vendor input through CommonSpirit Diverse Vendor Intake Form. - Additional vendor opportunity documentation provided by partners (i.e., distributors). CommonSpirit Health is in the midst of implementing its Health Equity Blueprint for action and has developed a series of questions in which they ask and address with each vendor to establish vendor accountability towards Health Equity. The business questions are designed to create transparency and awareness by understanding how we are performing against the guidelines and expectations set within our policies. In addition, the process is designed to share expectations and accountability around supplier diversity and its impact on promoting diversity in suppliers and health equity.
How does your hospital encourage its employees involved in procurement to seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?
CommonSpirit Health's Chief Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Community Impact Officer regularly communicates with supply chain staff, raising awareness with regard to diversity spend, and an assigned resource has membership on several supplier diversity task forces. Language is included in direct vendor agreements, GPO contract supplemental addendums and within the vendor RFP process, allowing vendors to report diversity codes and submit certification documentation to our sourcing team and Chief Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Community Impact Office. Our supply chain has developed a diversity strategy in which diverse vendors are validated through a third party supplier diversity partner using vendor information from our Enterprise Resource Planning system, allowing us to identify actionable areas of spend and implement policies, goals and practices to increase our diverse procurement.
How does your hospital conduct outreach and communication to minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises?
Through our GPO processes vendors are notified of opportunities within various categories of spend considered actionable for diverse vendors. We have plans to define in CY24, categories of actionable spend in supply chain and purchased services, which will support greater outreach to those interested in our business opportunities.

Rosalyn Carpenter, CommonSpirit Senior Vice President, Diversity and Inclusion, serves on several advisory boards and committees, including the Catholic Health Associationâ??s Special Committee to the Board on Diversity and Health Equity, and the Press Ganey Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Client Advisory Council. Additionally, CommonSpirit Health is a member of the Premier, Inc. member-led cohort that developed the recently announced Supplier Diversity Pledge, in which we seek to close supplier diversity gaps within our supply chain and encourage other member organizations to do the same.
