1. Policy Statement

Supplier Diversity Policy Statement

It is our duty to establish and build a work environment that reflects the diversity of the community we serve. Sierra View Medical Center has a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Fostering a diverse workforce benefits our community, employees and patients by offering an inclusive place to provide and receive care. We may come from different experiences and backgrounds, but we all share the same goal of providing high quality patient care and cultural humility. Diversity is multi-dimensional, encompassing not just race and ethnicity, but gender, sexual orientation, religion and more. Understanding individual differences can be critical to delivering care that best meets each individual's needs. At Sierra View, we want to make sure everyone feels included - from clinical to supportive roles, hospital vendors to contract workers and patients to visitors. We want to ensure that everyone is valued and recognized as the unique individuals they are.

2. Goals and Timetables

Please describe your hospital's short-term goals and timetables, but not quotas, for increasing procurement from women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises

Sierra View District Hospital is committed to building a more inclusive supplier base and increasing opportunities for women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises. While we do not set formal quotas, we have established the following short-term goals and initiatives: 1) Baseline Assessment (Q3): Conduct an internal audit of current supplier diversity spend to establish a baseline and identify areas with the most potential for increasing diverse vendor participation. 2. (Q4) Identifying contracting opportunities across departments to ensure that certified diverse suppliers are able to bid competitively while adhering to the hospital’s procurement standards and vendor onboarding process. 3. (Q1) Proactively sourcing and engaging diverse vendors through outreach events, supplier directories, and direct invitations to bid on projects aligned with their capabilities. The Materials Management team at Sierra View is responsible for sourcing all goods and services for the hospital. Our procurement staff identifies qualified vendors and works closely with them to ensure alignment with our operational goals and service expectations.

Our goals include: 1) Partner with internal departments and select vendors to create mentoring or vendor development programs that support capacity-building among diverse suppliers, helping them scale and meet hospital procurement standards. 2) Maintain consistent engagement with community and vendor stakeholders through roundtables, surveys, and educational sessions to ensure our procurement practices are responsive and inclusive. 3) Establish relationships with regional advocacy groups, chambers of commerce, and certification bodies to develop a steady pipeline of qualified diverse suppliers.
