3. Outreach and Communication

4. Support and Supplier Resolutions

Please describe the methods in which your hospital supports, partners with, or interacts with organizations and other entities in the procurement ecosystem that promote, certify, or contract with women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises

We continue to develop and utilize our extensive community networks across the region, including Chambers of Commerce, economic development corporations, and others. As an example, Valley Children’s partnered with the Southwest Fresno Economic Development Corporation, a not-for-profit business organization serving Southwest Fresno, a predominantly African-American community in Fresno County. Our partnership is intended to support, in part, the area’s job training and small business incubation efforts as they relate to food production--- ultimately, to help to contribute to lower food insecurity rates in the neighborhood, increased job skills, and future business enterprises that may be possible suppliers to our organization.

Please describe the methods in which your hospital resolves any issues that may limit or impede an enterprise from becoming a supplier

We provide feedback and education to vendors who do not initially meet qualification standards.

5. Diversity Commission Recommendations and Planned Implementations

Please describe the past implementation of relevant recommendations made by the Hospital Supplier Diversity Commission

In 2023, we implemented a supplier diversity tracking module in our ERP system, as recommended by the internal diversity initiative leaders. When doing RFP's we seek proposals from diverse vendors.

Please describe the planned implementation of relevant recommendations made by the Hospital Supplier Diversity Commission

In 2026, we plan to implement a supplier pre-registration portal that flags diverse certifications and includes optional self-identification. This improvement will be made possible by a change in our ERP system that will allow for more robust strategic sourcing process.

6. Procurement Process and Certification

Please describe your hospital's procurement process

Valley Children's follows a centralized procurement process led by the Supply Chain department.
