Outreach and Communication
How does your hospital encourage and seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?
Qualifying diverse suppliers are able to register with Vizient, our Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), in order to obtain preferred vendor status. The Vizient catalog contains more than 200 national agreements with certified diverse suppliers and small businesses. Emanate Health can access this catalog for contracts with community based small and diverse suppliers. In addition, Emanate Health is a member of the West Coast Purchasing Coalition (WCPC) and actively participates in discussions and initiatives surrounding the utilization and consideration of diverse suppliers.
How does your hospital encourage its employees involved in procurement to seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?
The Emanate Health purchasing organization currently relies primarily on its established vendors and purchasing contracts through our membership with Vizient, on whom Emanate relies to properly vet and certify and enter into business relationships for the benefit of its members. Members of the procurement team also serve on the Construction Bid Committee and have the opportunity to encourage the use of diverse suppliers during the RFP process for larger procurement and service projects for departments like Plant Operations, Planning, Building and Construction and Information Services, which are less likely to be channeled through our GPO or primary distributor (Medline). We are currently working with the Information Technology (IT) department to further modify the Vendor Maintenance screens in our Materials Management information System (MMIS) in order to capture additional diverse supplier qualifications and enhance Emanate's ability to identify diverse suppliers in the procurement process and evaluate spend data.
How does your hospital conduct outreach and communication to minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises?
In lieu of conducting proactive outreach and communication, Emanate Health directs solicitations by qualifying diverse companies to register with Vizient, our GPO, to be considered as potential suppliers.
