We are guided by the best practices of CommonSpirit’s leadership guidance and GPO strategy, and committed to local and regional purchases where possible. Core to our mission is the advancing of health equity which includes addressing the social determinants of health utilizing tools of supply chain diversity, local economies, and environmental sustainability.

2. Goals and Timetables

Please describe your hospital's short-term goals and timetables, but not quotas, for increasing procurement from women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises

National Response: CommonSpirit Health is deeply committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive supply chain that reflects the communities we serve. We are actively working towards increasing procurement from Women-owned Business Enterprises (WBEs), Minority-owned Business Enterprises (MBEs), LGBT-owned Business Enterprises (LGBTBEs), and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (DVBEs). Our short-term goals are focused on building a stronger foundation for a more diverse and inclusive supply chain. Establish a relationship with a local or regional supplier diversity organization to gain access to their network of certified diverse suppliers and resources. Conduct training sessions for procurement staff on how to leverage our system’s diverse supplier registration portal to find and engage with diverse suppliers within their categories. Create a one-page guide promoting local, diverse food caterers for discretionary spending for each CommonSpirit local system office. Connect with individual CommonSpirit facilities to better understand local purchasing practices and identify areas of opportunity to enhance opportunities for doing business with local diverse vendors. Share findings across facilities for impact.

Please describe your hospital's long-term goals and timetables, but not quotas, for increasing procurement from women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises

Our long-term goals center around creating a sustainable and equitable procurement process. This involves several key initiatives: Supplier Diversity Program Enhancement: We are continuously refining our supplier diversity program to improve outreach, onboarding, and support for diverse suppliers. This includes actively participating in supplier diversity events, partnering with relevant organizations, and improving our organization’s resources to help diverse businesses navigate our procurement processes. Data Collection and Analysis: CommonSpirit Health has a method for tracking diverse spend and continues to work to improve data collection capabilities to better understand the current representation of diverse suppliers within our vendor base. Our team continues to identify areas where we can focus our efforts and measure our progress more effectively. Strategic Partnerships: We are actively fostering and seeking strategic partnerships with organizations that support diverse businesses. These partnerships help us expand our network of qualified diverse suppliers and provide them with access to opportunities within our hospital system. While specific timetables for achieving these goals are subject to ongoing review and adjustment based on market conditions and internal resource allocation, we are committed to making steady progress in increasing procurement from diverse suppliers. We encourage diverse businesses to register as potential suppliers through CommonSpirit Health's Diverse Vendor Portal.

3. Outreach and Communication

Please describe the methods in which the hospital encourages and seeks out both prime and subcontract suppliers from women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers

National Response: CommonSpirit identifies diverse vendors through: - Active Contract List identifying vendors contracted through our GPO. -Diverse Vendor database available through a third party supplier diversity vendor. -Vendor diversity self-identification by vendor during RFP and contracting process. -Direct vendor input through CommonSpirit’s third-party supplier diversity vendor portal. -Additional vendor opportunity documentation provided by partners (i.e., distributors). - Tier 2 program promotes use of diverse subcontractors as it relates to business done with CommonSpirit from a National contracting perspective. As one of the nation's largest nonprofit health care organizations, CommonSpirit is uniquely positioned to lead health equity. We know our health shouldn't depend on our zip code, economic status, or the color of our skin, and we therefore remain active in implementing our Health Equity Blueprint for Action. As it relates to purchasing specifically, the Blueprint enables CommonSpirit to scale supplier diversity efforts and targets in order to enhance local and national partnerships and investments. This means our supply chain team includes a series of questions to engage with each vendor. These questions are designed to establish vendor accountability towards health equity, create transparency and awareness of our performance against policy guidelines, and share expectations around supplier diversity's impact on promoting diversity in suppliers and health equity.

Please describe the methods in which the hospital encourages its employees involved in procurement to seek out women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers

National Response: CommonSpirit Health's Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (ODEIB) regularly communicates with supply chain staff, raising awareness with regard to diversity spend, and an assigned resource has membership on several supplier diversity task forces. Language is included in direct vendor agreements, contract supplemental addendums and within the vendor RFP process, allowing vendors to report diversity codes and submit certification documentation to our sourcing team and Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (ODEIB). Our supply chain has developed a diversity strategy in which diverse vendors are validated through a third party supplier diversity partner using vendor information from our Enterprise Resource Planning system, allowing us to identify actionable areas of spend and implement policies, goals and practices to increase our diverse procurement.

Please describe the methods in which the hospital conducts outreach and communication to women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises

National Response: Through our contracting processes vendors are notified of opportunities within various categories of spend considered actionable for diverse vendors. We have plans to define categories of actionable spend in supply chain, purchased services and local contracting opportunities, which will support greater outreach to those interested in our business opportunities.
