Outreach and Communication

How does your hospital encourage and seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?

WHHS encourages the use of local small businesses for the procurement of goods and services. Prime suppliers are encouraged to partner with diverse businesses in their supply chain pipeline. WHHS has plans to utilize the Minority Business Consortium (MBC), which helps corporations, academic institutions, and public agencies benefit from the rich diversity and talent available in underrepresented communities, to seek out minority, women, LGBT and disabled veteran business enterprises.

How does your hospital encourage its employees involved in procurement to seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?

HHS currently has a policy that encourages the use of local small businesses for the procurement of goods and services. WHHS employees are encouraged to consider local certified small businesses, which generally have a high percentage of diverse suppliers and providers. WHHS will continue to make decisions based on safety, quality, clinical acceptance and cost, while executing its DREI strategy. DREI values are in development, which will be supported by institutional policies and procedures to facilitate doing business with more minority, women, LGBT and disabled veteran businesses enterprises.

How does your hospital conduct outreach and communication to minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises?

Currently, WHHS does not conduct outreach and communication to minority, women, LGBT and disabled veteran business enterprises. WHHS has plans to reach out to resources, such as the Minority Business Consortium (MBC) to promote new business opportunities with minority, women, LGBT and disabled veteran business enterprises. Employees of WHHS will also seek the counsel of the Purchasing Department to identify new opportunities for local certified small businesses, which generally have a high percentage of diversity suppliers and providers.
