On March 9, 2020, the Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) delivered to the Legislature its report on the creation of the Health Care Payments Data Program. The program would collect healthcare information from multiple systems with the goal of providing greater transparency regarding healthcare costs. The report identifies recommendations for the type of data that must be submitted, enforcement mechanisms needed for compliance, protecting individual privacy, and more.
Along with the report, HCAI released its Phase 2 Implementation Plan for the Health Care Payments Data System. The plan includes program activities from March 2020 through December 2023.
