hcai-news-graphic

HCAI is in the process of developing an important new public reporting program made to address healthcare disparities for vulnerable populations, and you have an opportunity to weigh in.

The Hospital Equity Measures Program will collect equity reports from California hospitals and then post those reports to the HCAI website. These reports will include measures on patient access, quality, and outcomes by race, language, disability status, sexual orientation, gender identity, and payor. The first reports will be submitted by California hospitals in 2025.

HCAI is in the process of establishing regulations for specifying the measures, data formats, and more. During the public comment period, members of the public are encouraged to provide their input to help inform this process. Read the proposed rule and learn how to submit your comment: https://hcai.ca.gov/about/laws-regulations/#hospital-equity-measures-reporting-program. All comments must be received by 5:00 p.m. on August 13, 2024.

HCAI convenes the Hospital Equity Measures Advisory Committee, which meets regularly, and is open to the public. This diverse committee of stakeholders and experts will be reviewing hospital’s equity plans and continuing to advise HCAI on the administration of this program.
