Scott Christman

In 2021, Scott Christman was appointed to the Chief Deputy Director post at the Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI), formerly known as the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD).

Previously he served as the Chief Data Officer for the California Department of Public Health and the Chief Information Officer and Deputy Director for OSHPD, where he was responsible for healthcare data programs and information technology services. From 2016 to 2017, Scott also served as the Acting Agency CIO for the California Health and Human Services Agency (CHHS) and led several CHHS data governance initiatives.

Prior to serving in these roles, Scott held senior management positions with the UC Davis Health System and Adventist Health where he led Health Information Exchange programs at statewide and local levels. He has also held leadership positions with a technology consulting firm and a software manufacturer.

Scott holds a master’s degree in Planning and Development Studies from the University of Southern California and completed graduate coursework in Health Informatics at UC Davis.
