Supplier Diversity Policy Statement
CHOC is continuing to develop its outreach and inclusion programs for greater diversity in our supply chain. As we continue to assess the available contracting and communication resources and the ability to utilize, CHOC will be able to determine and implement policy. We will develop a process to analyze current procurement practices, including, but not limited to, overall spend, percentage of contracts with diverse suppliers, spend with diverse suppliers, growth of spend and contracting with diverse suppliers, bid process, quantity of bids and number of diverse suppliers bidding, outreach and engagement with diverse business/enterprises, mentoring and coaching with businesses; review previous bids from diverse suppliers; research best practices in supplier diversity; and partner with other Children’s Hospitals, local healthcare organizations or agencies to collaborate and identify best practice.
2. Goals and Timetables

We are updating our CHOC Vendor program webpage to reflect our investment in strengthening our local and regional community. We anticipate by the end of the calendar year, the external webpage will be updated. Additionally, we plan to partner with Communities Lifting Communities to host CHOC’s first Diverse Vendor Fair in the fall.

Long-term, we plan to host a Diverse Vendor Fair annually, leverage the Hospital Association of Southern California’s diverse supplier list, and continue to participate on the HCAI supplier diversity workgroup. Hosting an annual diverse vendor fair will allow CHOC to strengthen existing relationships with diverse vendors and establish relationships with new diverse vendors.

We are building our processes for seeking suppliers from women, minority, LGBT, disabled veteran business enterprises. Over the last year, we attended a Diverse Vendor Fair where our representatives could meet with and learn about the vendors and the services they provide. We retained the vendors’ information and established a list of vendors for potential future engagement.

We encourage procurement staff to attend diverse vendor fairs and the Hospital Association of Southern California workshops that highlight diverse suppliers in the community. This allows employees to seek out women, minority, LGBT and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers.

We are currently leverage our existing relationships in the community and with other hospitals to identify women, minority, LGBT and disabled veteran business enterprises. Most recently while on a call with another hospital, they mentioned a vendor they are using for hair care products. We received their contact information and we reached out to learn more as we are interested in the company being a supplier for hair care products in our organization.

Please describe the methods in which your hospital supports, partners with, or interacts with organizations and other entities in the procurement ecosystem that promote, certify, or contract with women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises
CHOC engages with the Hospital Association of Southern California and Communities Lifting Communities. We also have members of our workforce who sit on the CA Hospital Association sponsored diverse vendor workgroup.

As we develop our program, we are developing ways to be more explicit about how an interested supplier can do business with CHOC on our external webpage. Additionally, when suppliers contact us and complete the intake form, we can provide feedback about what may be impeding their ability to be listed as a vendor.

CHOC has implemented an additional task for procurement staff to expand sourcing efforts to include identifying California based vendors who are certified in the various and specific diverse and minority categories.

Hosting annual or semi-annual vendor fairs focused on the diverse and minority vendors and including invitations to neighboring hospitals to participate as well. We will also be adding a FAQ link in our website for prospective vendors to inquire about our requirements and qualifiers for consideration to be a registered supplier. We have also considered a newsletter that will be directed to the California-based vendors only.

As with most hospitals both stand alone or affiliated, we rely on our consolidated volume to leverage pricing via GPO or local contracts. We will have a FAQ link for all prospective vendors to review online to understand our requirements and process to be considered for contract award.

10. Other Relevant Information
Children's Hospital of Orange County merged with Rady Children's Hospital of San Diego in 2025 and will now be known as Rady Children's Health. Much of our future-state contracting and sourcing will be done as 1 enterprise and the ability to serve and support both campuses will be a significant factor in our vendor selection process.
