Through Encompass Health’s group purchasing organization, Encompass Health participates in the supplier diversity program allowing it to offer diversity certification to eligible suppliers.

Encompass Health will continue to review HSDC’s recommendations and consider whether implementation is beneficial to its operations.
6. Procurement Process and Certification

Encompass Health’s supply chain department facilitates the procurement category bids, clinical evaluations, vendor awards, and implementations for its hospitals with participation from regional and hospital leadership. The supply chain department negotiates supplier agreements for the benefit of its hospitals. Supplier contract negotiations are supported by other Encompass Health departments, including, legal, information technology, compliance and other clinical subject matter experts, to ensure the best agreement terms. The supply chain department, in collaboration with the hospital, manages vendor performance through scorecards, key performance indicators, and improvement initiatives to ensure suppliers are meeting the hospital’s quality and operational expectations. In addition to the foregoing, some suppliers are chosen on a regional or local level. These agreements are also negotiated with the support of Encompass Health departments, including, supply chain, legal, information technology, compliance and other clinical subject matter experts, to ensure the best agreement terms.
