In collaboration with Vizient – LVMC’s partner Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) – we are committed to expanding partnerships with a diverse range of businesses, including those owned and operated by people of color, women, veterans, and members of the LGBTQ+ community and members of socially and economically disadvantaged groups.

2. Goals and Timetables

Please describe your hospital's short-term goals and timetables, but not quotas, for increasing procurement from women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises

LVMC continues to be open to increasing procurement. In the short-term LVMC, continues to work with Vizient, our GPO, to identify vendors that fall within the categories of a diverse supplier. Additionally, LVMC utilizes local businesses the most we can by meeting with representatives and exploring business partnership even if that means going outside of the GPO.

Please describe the planned implementation of relevant recommendations made by the Hospital Supplier Diversity Commission

LVMC plans to improve our ability to track diversity suppliers within our own internal systems, and looking into ways we can work with these diverse suppliers more.

6. Procurement Process and Certification

Please describe your hospital's procurement process

The procurement process at LVMC begins with medical supplies needed by clinicians and clinical staff. LVMC store stock items, and purchases any items or supplies needed by any department. LVMC works with the Vizient GPO to get contract pricing with vendors for Medical Supplies. Typically LVMC determines if the vendor has a Vizient contract or not before proceeding. Vizient does have diverse suppliers registered. If Vizient does not have a contract with a vendor and LVMC continues to go with that vendor then they LVMC will negotiate pricing on their own with the vendor. LVMC is open to all vendors. LVMC will meet with new vendors that come to the door, and compare competitive pricing. LVMC tries to do as much business locally especially any business related to grounds and facilities.
