NATIVIDAD MEDICAL CENTER
1. Policy Statement
Supplier Diversity Policy Statement
Natividad strives to support supplier diversity by engaging with business enterprises that are at least 51% owned by minorities, women, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, Queer (LGBTQ), and veteran and/or disabled veteran business enterprises (“Diverse Suppliers”), whenever practical and possible to do so, and while remaining compliant with California public contract code, and with Monterey County and Natividad's established codes, policies, and procedures.
2. Goals and Timetables
Please describe your hospital's short-term goals and timetables, but not quotas, for increasing procurement from women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises
During July 2025 Natividad plans to reach out to various organizations which support different categories of diverse suppliers to inform these organizations about open solicitations that they can then share with diverse business owners, and also to open up lines of communication. Such outreach includes but is not limited to organizations such as the NMSDC, the WBENC, and the NGLCC.
Please describe your hospital's long-term goals and timetables, but not quotas, for increasing procurement from women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises
Natividad has seen an increase in business transactions with diverse suppliers over the past two years and our strategy to continue to promote activity with diverse suppliers is to continue performing outreach annually to the various organizations and to new ones we learn about.
3. Outreach and Communication
Please describe the methods in which the hospital encourages and seeks out both prime and subcontract suppliers from women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers
Natividad visits the websites of various organizations that support diverse business owners of all types, such as NMSDC, WBENC, NGLCC, and others to explore any posted opportunities to collaborate, and will utilize email or the website contact forms to provide links to open/active solicitations for services that the hospital has at that time which can be passed on to diverse business owners through these organizations, most of which have established programs to do so.
Please describe the methods in which the hospital encourages its employees involved in procurement to seek out women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers
Natividad is owned and operated by the County of Monterey which periodically provides education and online tools to promote diversity, awareness, and equity. Natividad employees are always informed when this educational opportunity is posted and are encouraged to participate.
Please describe the methods in which the hospital conducts outreach and communication to women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises
Natividad works through various organizations such as NMSDC, WBENC, NGLCC, and others as method of communication to these various business enterprises rather than attempt to contact individual businesses directly. However, if our hospital is contacted by an individual business to inquire about how to do business together, our procurement department will share opportunities which may be available at present or in the near future.
4. Support and Supplier Resolutions
Please describe the methods in which your hospital supports, partners with, or interacts with organizations and other entities in the procurement ecosystem that promote, certify, or contract with women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises
Natividad reaches out annually to various organizations which support different categories of diverse suppliers to inform these organizations about open solicitations that they can then share with diverse business owners, and also to open up lines of communication.
Please describe the methods in which your hospital resolves any issues that may limit or impede an enterprise from becoming a supplier
All suppliers, regardless of status, are able to self-register as a vendor with the County of Monterey online. Visit countyofmonterey.gov for more information and links to vendor registration. Registering as a vendor does not guarantee any future business transactions but it's a necessary first step.
5. Diversity Commission Recommendations and Planned Implementations
Please describe the past implementation of relevant recommendations made by the Hospital Supplier Diversity Commission
A policy statement has been created at Natividad that we stand by.
Please describe the planned implementation of relevant recommendations made by the Hospital Supplier Diversity Commission
The County of Monterey is preparing to implement a new ERP system in 2026 and there will be additional diverse categories defined for vendors to identify with and designate themselves as during the registration process. This will improve our ability to collect more comprehensive data on diverse suppliers.
6. Procurement Process and Certification
Please describe your hospital's procurement process
Natividad is owned and operated by the County of Monterey. As such we follow bid and solicitation requirements as outlined by the State of California and the County of Monterey for various goods and services. We utilize a Group Purchasing Organization to achieve volume discounts when available.

10. Other Relevant Information
At this time it is not a requirement that vendors provide the County of Monterey/Natividad with their diversity status, it is optional. Because our ERP system is not able to collect/track diverse supplier spend data on all vendors that we do business with, the diversity spend reported here is primarily derived from our Group Purchasing Organization (GPO), Vizient, and mostly reflects the spend for diverse vendor categories as processed and reported through that GPO only.
