As a public hospital owned and operated by the County of Monterey, Natividad conducts all procurement activities in accordance with the California Public Contract Code, County of Monterey purchasing policies, and Natividad's established procurement procedures. Supplier diversity is supported through fair and open competition, equal access to contracting opportunities, and outreach efforts designed to encourage participation from qualified diverse suppliers. During 2025, Natividad began strengthening its supplier diversity program by developing a standardized Supplier Diversity Information Form to collect voluntary diversity classifications and supporting certifications from vendors. Additionally, as part of the County of Monterey's transition to the Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Natividad collaborated with County and Oracle implementation teams to advocate for supplier diversity data fields within the vendor master to improve future reporting capabilities and compliance with California Assembly Bill 962 (AB 962). Natividad remains committed to continuously improving its supplier diversity efforts through vendor outreach, enhanced data collection, employee awareness, and ongoing collaboration with the County of Monterey to expand opportunities for qualified diverse suppliers while maintaining transparency, fiscal responsibility, and compliance with all applicable procurement requirements.

The Materials Management Department is responsible for the procurement of medical supplies, equipment, services, capital purchases, and contractual agreements that support hospital operations. Depending on the type, scope, and dollar value of the procurement, purchases may be completed through competitive solicitations, requests for quotations, requests for proposals, cooperative purchasing agreements, Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) contracts, County contracts, or other legally authorized procurement methods. Natividad utilizes Vizient as its primary Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) to leverage nationally negotiated contracts that provide competitive pricing, quality products, and supply chain efficiencies.
