When seeking supplier relationships, SSH - San Diego performs extensive diligence to ensure any partner supports SSH - San Diego's commitment to its cultural norms of respect, equality, and inclusion, while offering a partnership that meets its business needs and financial outcomes.

SSH - San Diego aims to increase overall spend with diverse suppliers by 5% over current annual spend levels. The timetable for achieving this goal is by December 31, 2026.

SSH - San Diego aims to increase overall spend with diverse suppliers over the next five years. SSH - San Diego will seek opportunities to support and develop diverse suppliers through mentoring, capacity-building initiatives, and other engagement strategies to promote mutually beneficial outcomes

SSH - San Diego is committed to fostering both national and local relationships with the best opportunity supplier partners and supplier contractors who meet SSH - San Diego's objective AQSCI criteria. This criteria includes: assurance of supply, quality, service, cost optimization and innovation. Additionally, when seeking out potential suppliers, SSH - San Diego expects its national and local suppliers to prohibit discrimination and abide by SSH - San Diego's same values of respect, equality and inclusion. All suppliers who meet these business needs have equal opportunity to outreach to us via multiple methods, including, but not limited to, our supplier hotline.

While SSH - San Diego conducts limited supplier outreach, when any outreach is conducted, SSH - San Diego applies its same commitment to all business enterprises to ensure the largest group of suppliers have equal opportunity to submit a bid. All suppliers are expected to meet the same objective AQSCI criteria. This criteria includes: assurance of supply, quality, service, cost optimization and innovation.

SSH - San Diego is committed to its mission and core values as a foundation of our expectation for equity and inclusion. SSH - San Diego supports organizations that promote inclusive supplier diversity for minorities, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran enterprises. Additionally, SSH - San Diego performs extensive diligence to ensure any partner, or organization that it supports, mirrors its commitment to the cultural norms of respect, equality, and inclusion. SSH - San Diego's supplier diversity program is designed to reflect the diversity of the communities it serves, and it will collaborate with organizations that promote or certify diverse suppliers.

Please describe the methods in which your hospital resolves any issues that may limit or impede an enterprise from becoming a supplier

As long as a supplier is capable of providing the required goods or services and is a qualified vendor, SSH - San Diego will consider them and offer opportunities. SSH - San Diego does not maintain any policies or practices that limit or impede an enterprise from becoming a supplier. Significantly, potential suppliers may reach out regarding opportunities or with questions by contacting the supplier hotline. In addition, SSH - San Diego is working to facilitate the engagement of new diverse suppliers in the following ways: - Ensuring that vendors have access to Hospital’s Requests for Proposals (RFPs). - Encouraging procurement team members to include diverse suppliers in bidding processes, whenever possible. - Encouraging employee attendance at Supplier Diversity Conferences to grow and foster relationships with diverse suppliers. - Collaborating with our Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) on shared goals, as our GPO maintains data relative to certified diverse suppliers, which should help our procurement team members more easily identify and engage with diverse suppliers.

5. Diversity Commission Recommendations and Planned Implementations

SSH - San Diego's executive leadership has reviewed recommendations from the Hospital Supplier Diversity Commission and implemented measures to support diverse suppliers and ensure there are no barriers to limit of impede diverse suppliers from working with SSH - San Diego. These measures include development of a supplier diversity policy statement, education and increased awareness of diversity initiatives, and working with our GPO on shared diversity initiatives. Additionally, SSH - San Diego is tracking spending to monitor progress on achieving goals for diverse spending.

Please describe the planned implementation of relevant recommendations made by the Hospital Supplier Diversity Commission

SSH - San Diego's executive leadership will continue to review recommendations provided by the Hospital Supplier Diversity Commission and actively seek additional opportunities to engage with diverse suppliers. This includes exploring partnerships with Chambers of Commerce for Diverse Business and refining internal metrics to more effectively track and report progress.

6. Procurement Process and Certification

SSH - San Diego conducts periodic, cyclical reviews of spend categories, alongside ongoing market analysis of the healthcare industry and key categories within it. As part of this process, Hospital conducts sourcing events—including RFP’s and competitive bids—that involve incumbent suppliers as well as other suppliers existing within the market. SSH - San Diego evaluates all vendors based on our AQSCI model to ensure an objective process and outcome. Bids are open to diverse or non-diverse suppliers. The model premise is as follows: • Assurance of Supply • Quality • Service • Cost • Innovation SSH - San Diego leverages its size and buying power to negotiate direct supplier agreements and also uses its GPO’s broad supplier network and beneficial contract terms. Business is awarded based upon overall best value as determined by AQSCI scoring. Following contract awards, SSH - San Diego conducts regular supplier business reviews with suppliers to monitor performance and alignment. A Supplier Hotline is maintained for any vendor that wishes to reach out to for solicitation purposes. Additionally, SSH - San Diego captures supplier diversity classification and certification information to support comprehensive reporting of spend data.
