Benefit to Healthcare, Professionals, and Construction and Design Industry

Construction Administration Proficiency (CAP)

Projects often experience delays when there is uncertainty about required processes or documentation. These delays can increase frustration for project teams and raise overall project costs. The CAP program is a voluntary training and certification offered by HCAI Inspection Services Unit (ISU) to help reduce common delays and improve understanding of required procedures. The CAP training and exam are open to anyone who wants to gain a stronger understanding of the California Administrative Code.

  • No license or professional certification is required.
  • Although especially helpful for Design Professionals of Record (DPORs), the program benefits all individuals seeking greater proficiency in construction administration requirements.
  • To maintain certification, CAP‑certified individuals must complete updated CAP training and pass the renewed exam when a new Code cycle is issued.
