Supplier Diversity Policy Statement

Policy Statement: At City of Hope (COH), diversity of skills, experience and cultural background are essential ingredients to providing compassionate care to all patients, achieving innovative discoveries, and advancing vital education focused on eliminating cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening diseases. COH is dedicated to fostering a community that embraces diversity; this is reflected in COH’s Supplier Diversity Policy which affirms that certified diverse and small business suppliers have the opportunity, access, and invitation to participate in requests for proposals and supplier contracts. COH is committed to diversity and strives to hire, develop, and retain a workforce and supplier base that reflects the community where we work and serve. COH requires those providing products and services to COH to prohibit discrimination on the basis of any protected characteristic in accordance with applicable laws, and COH encourages them to promote diversity, equity and inclusion including providing opportunities to diverse suppliers.

How does your hospital encourage and seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?

DIVERSE SUPPLIER OUTREACH As we develop and strengthen our Supplier Diversity Program, we continue external outreach efforts that seek to identify diverse suppliers for potential business opportunities. COH is aligned with several supplier diversity and community-based organizations that support, advocate for, and promote women, minority, disabled veteran, and LGBT-owned businesses. Some of the organizations include but are not limited to: o Southern California Minority Supplier Development Council (SCMSDC) o Veterans In Business Network (VIB) o Women’s Business Enterprise Council – West (WBEC West) o American Indian Chamber of Commerce of California (AICCC) o LA RAMP – Los Angeles Regional Alliance Marketplace for Procurement (LA RAMP) o United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) o National Gay, Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) o Asian American Business Association Orange County– (AABAOC) o Communities Lifting Communities (CLC) • We attend and participate in networking events, match-making sessions, trade fairs, supplier diversity conferences, webinars, best practices sessions, and speaking engagements that provide access and education to the diverse supplier community. • COH Supplier Diversity, as a member of supplier diversity organizations and councils, and through various professional group affiliations and network, seek referrals from other professional colleagues and facilitate introductions with diverse suppliers. • We partner with various supplier diversity organizations which use their platforms to help us announce RFIs to the diverse supplier community, for an opportunity to engage in our procurement bids. We collaborate with these organizations and may request they provide search and identification of diverse suppliers for us, or we may elect to source directly utilizing various data base platforms for inclusion in sourcing opportunities. • We’ve launched a supplier diversity website Supplier Diversity Program | City of Hope with information about our supplier diversity program and how to contact us at SupplierDiversity@coh.org, (managed by the Manager, Supplier Diversity). This information is also disseminated to diverse suppliers at all events, webinars, and presentations.

How does your hospital encourage its employees involved in procurement to seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?

Our internal outreach efforts include communication and building awareness of supplier diversity, as well as collaborating with internal stakeholders to promote the use of diverse suppliers across our organization, which includes, but not limited to, the following: • Supplier Diversity and the Sourcing group are closely aligned in the same organization, Procurement • Supplier Diversity attends weekly scheduled meetings with the Procurement team to connect and exchange information on sourcing projects, initiatives, and updates • Incorporate diverse sub-contracting language into our agreements that are executed by Procurement with prime vendors to encourage diverse supplier utilization • Procurement team members are invited to participate in supplier diversity networking and trade events • Facilitate diverse supplier introduction meetings with Procurement and other stakeholders • Maintain diverse supplier profiles and referral list accessed by our Procurement team on Microsoft Teams SharePoint • Access provided to our Sourcing teams to utilize established databases to search and identify diverse suppliers for inclusion in sourcing bid opportunities • Supplier Diversity Manager assists and works with Sourcing team to identify diverse suppliers for inclusion in sourcing bid opportunities

How does your hospital conduct outreach and communication to minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises?

We have a dedicated Supplier Diversity Manager that is a liaison for our diverse supplier community and our internal organization, and engages in various outreach efforts with supplier communities: • Present educational webinar sessions on how to access and do business with City of Hope, such as those conducted with: o The Vietnamese American Chamber of Commerce (VACOC) o The Southern California Minority Supplier Development Council (SCMSDC) o The Asian American Business Association of Orange County (AABAOC) • Identify and forge relationships with local, regional and national diverse supplier networks and other supplier diversity organizations that promote diverse business enterprises. • Attend matchmaking and networking events to identify and solicit diverse suppliers. • Participate in supplier diversity forums hosted by various groups across diverse organizations, industry groups, and city/municipalities that promote opportunities with diverse suppliers and as way to meet diverse suppliers. Participated in the following outreach conferences and networking events: o SCMSDC Annual Supplier Diversity Trade Fair Exhibit (B3 Expo) o American Asian Chamber of Commerce Annual diversity exhibit and trade fair (BIZCON) o American Indian Chamber of Commerce of California – Annual Supplier Diversity Procurement Summit o National Gay, Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) Annual Conference o United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Annual Conference o National Minority Supplier Development Council Annual Conference (NMSDC) o WBEC-West Meet and Greet sessions o The Los Angeles Latino Chamber of Commerce and the City of Los Angeles to learn more about the Regional Alliance Marketplace for Procurement (RAMP), a one-stop hub for small and diverse businesses seeking procurement opportunities across Southern California. o Communities Lifting Communities (CLC) and the Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC) o Hospital Supplier Diversity Commission Quarterly meetings – HCAI Commission Recommendations public hearing meetings o Accelerating Supplier Diversity for a Stronger Los Angeles -insights from thought on how we can drive equitable economic growth in the L.A. region by partnering with underrepresented businesses. o South Asian Business Association Nationwide (SABAN) • Utilize our internal and external database platforms to identify and target diverse suppliers to outreach • Facilitate introduction meetings of diverse suppliers to our sourcing teams and stakeholders • Established a supplier diversity web presence with our Supplier Diversity inbox contact information so diverse suppliers may reach our Supplier Diversity department for introductions and any other inquiries. This information is disseminated also throughout our outreach engagements

COH is committed to supporting organizations that help certify and promote diverse business enterprises through the following: Membership COH is a member of several organizations that promote and advocate for diverse suppliers Certification COH serves on the Certification Application Review Committee of the SCMSDC, helping with the review and approval of minority-owned business enterprise applicants’ certification application Nominations Nominations are a great way to recognize and showcase diverse suppliers at diverse organization’s awards events. COH nominated diverse suppliers for the MBE of the Year award, announced at the SCMSDC B3 conference, which led to nomination at the national level and visibility to a broader audience. Sponsorship Awarded a scholarship to a minority-owned business to attend Kellogg School of Business Management Webinars We partner with various diverse organizations to hold meet-and-greet webinars that provide information and access to City of Hope Supplier Diversity for the members of these organizations. Attendance Support diverse organizations by attending and exhibiting at their hosted trade fairs; attend business match making-e sessions; speak at workshops and panels; attend networking mixers; these efforts help us in establishing and strengthening relationships with the communities these organizations serve. Committee Membership COH serves on the SCMSDC Corporate Roundtable - Diverse Business Advocates Group (DBAG), which focuses on peer-to-peer discussions regarding supplier diversity challenges, successes, best practice solutions, and recommending possible, executable solutions. COH has joined as a member to serve on the American Indian Chamber of Commerce Advisory Board
