Supplier Diversity Policy Statement

Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital (“HMNH”) is committed to provide equal access and opportunity to all suppliers and to facilitate nondiscriminatory business relationships by promoting and increasing the diversity of vendors within its supply chain. Our Supplier Diversity Policy has been developed to encompass all activities of HMNH associated with outreach, identification and participation of Small and Historically Underutilized Businesses (S/UBs), including Minority-, Women-, Veteran- and/or Service Disabled Veteran-owned businesses in Contracting Opportunities for construction, architectural and engineering services and other goods and services (including professional services). HMNH purchasing practices are designed to provide equal access and opportunity to all suppliers and prohibit discriminatory business relationships. It is the aim of HMNH to provide all segments of Los Angeles County with a full, fair and meaningful opportunity to participate in our contracts regardless of race, gender or ethnic origin. We are committed to creating a cadre of suppliers in our supply chain that represent the diversity in the communities we serve. HMNH encourages and supports the participation of historically underutilized businesses that can successfully compete for prime or sub-contracting opportunities.

How does your hospital encourage and seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?

Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital (HMNH) strongly supports Diversity Vendors. Our Diversity Policy is published on our company website and our procurement efforts managed by our Supply Chain department openly includes all vendors. HMNH is a member of the Vizient, Inc. Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) which has a offered their members local and diverse agreements for the past twenty (20) years through their supplier diversity program. This includes access to more than 200 agreements with certified diverse suppliers and small businesses in all supply and service categories. HMNH participates in the Vizient Supplier Diversity Expos, where members have an opportunity to learn about selected Vizient -awarded diversity suppliers and their capabilities during individual spotlight sessions. All Vizient members are encouraged to participate in the growth of diverse businesses in our local communities. Further, HMNH is a member of the West Coast Purchasing Coalition (WCPC) where diverse and small business vendors are discussed and promoted within the WCPC membership.

How does your hospital encourage its employees involved in procurement to seek out minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers?

The support for diversity vendors begins with our Executive Leadership Team and is spearheaded by the Supply Chain Director who fully supports our diversity efforts and uses these principle in daily vendor selection decisions. Supply Chain also presents the diversity program to all Department Managers to educate all management members involved in vendor development with our diversity policy.

How does your hospital conduct outreach and communication to minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises?

All active vendors of HMNH are notified of our diversity policy and asked to submit certification documents from a state or private certification agency.

How does your hospital support organizations that promote or certify minority, women, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises?

Vizient's Supplier Diversity Program supports the development of minority; woman; disability; LGBT and veteran owned business enterprises. In 2020, Vizient launched it's Community Contracting Program, designed to connect Vizient member hospitals with local and diverse suppliers and service providers. A recently released feature of the Vizient Contract Catalog is the ability to locate suppliers by diversity designation. We now have the ability to search and find diverse suppliers matching our selected criteria in addition to validating diverse supplier certifications. The goal will be to promote contracting with certified diverse, local businesses, to support the economic development within our communities. By participating in the Vizient Supplier Program, HMNH hopes to strengthen our own supplier diversity strategies.
