Michael D. Valle was appointed Chief Information Officer and Deputy Director for Information Services at the California Department of Health Care Access and Information in 2020, where he directs data analytics and technology.

Since 2009 he has worked in various health data and technology policy and management roles, both with the Department and the California Health and Human Services Agency, overseeing the implementation of data transparency programs, strategic planning, and technology policy and governance.

From 2014 to 2019 he served as assistant adjunct professor in political science at American River College, teaching American and California government.

Prior, Mr. Valle interned in the Schwarzenegger administration, performing constituent affairs.

He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute and fellow with the California State University, Sacramento Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics (College of Business Administration), advising on curricula and programming.

Mr. Valle holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California’s Price School of Public Policy. His scholarship focuses on the political philosophy of intellectual property and public knowledge.

He enjoys sports, experiencing the outdoors, and study of California’s history.
