Immigrant Community Health & Resilience is a partnership between HCAI and the California Department of Social Services (CDSS). It builds on the CDSS Regional Network Hubs for Immigrant Families (RNHs), which connect immigrant and mixed-status families to legal services, information, and community-based support. The RNHs do this through collaboration and coordination among regional community service providers, including local institutions.

Through this partnership, HCAI is funding organizations to deploy Community Health Workers (CHWs), including Promotores, as trusted messengers who connect families to the RNHs and support them to access services. Changing federal policies and actions have created uncertainty and fear in immigrant and mixed status communities, requiring greater education and outreach to help people navigate new rules, assess their risks, and connect with services that support their health and wellbeing.

Activities by CHWs and Promotores may include community education, resource navigation, referrals, training, and connections to trusted local services in collaboration with other Hub partners. HCAI’s work extends and bolsters the CDSS RNHs.

More information about RNHs, including lists of currently funded legal service nonprofit organizations, can be found on the CDSS website.
