From May through July 2024, the hospital worked with local organizations to convene focus groups and interviews with both service providers and service recipients. This outreach ensured representation from agricultural workers, civic government, labor workers, LGBTQ community members, low income households, medically underserved individuals, minority populations, older adults, persons with disabilities, unhoused residents, and individuals with substance use disorders. Participating organizations included Champions Recovery Alternative Programs, the City of Tulare, Community Action Partnership of Kern, Delano Chamber of Commerce, Kings Community Action Organization, Kings County Public Health, and local community leaders—each helping the hospital reach populations that are often underrepresented.
