Supplier Diversity Policy Statement

Barton Health is committed to supporting our local community and underrepresented suppliers by contracting with minority, women, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT), and disabled veteran business enterprises.

2. Goals and Timetables

Barton meets with its group purchasing organization, distributors and suppliers, at least annually, to better understand what products can be purchased from women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises.

Barton’s long-term goals are to increase procurement with locally owned enterprises, women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises in mutually beneficial business opportunities.

Please describe the methods in which the hospital encourages and seeks out both prime and subcontract suppliers from women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers

Barton Health participates with local initiatives and evaluates opportunities to purchase goods and services from certified and non-certified underrepresented businesses and suppliers in order to maintain awareness of resources offered by diversity suppliers. Barton Health encourages and supports local and underrepresented businesses and suppliers to meet with Barton’s strategic sourcing staff to review product/service specifications, and review supplier qualifications including licenses, certification, and insurance requirements as appropriate.

Barton Health and its Supply Chain department encourages its employees and departments to explore opportunities to include and utilize local and underrepresented suppliers to compete for business and from whom to obtain goods and services whenever possible.

Barton Health and its Supply Chain department reviews with its group purchasing organization (GPO) a list of underrepresented businesses owned and/or operated by individuals or groups that are part of the traditionally underrepresented supplier community on an annual basis.

Barton Health and its Supply Chain department encourages its employees, departments, suppliers and business partners to explore opportunities to include, utilize and contract with local and underrepresented suppliers whenever possible.

5. Diversity Commission Recommendations and Planned Implementations

Barton Health partnered with its group purchasing organization (GPO) to review a list of certified underrepresented businesses owned and/or operated by individuals or groups that are part of the traditionally underrepresented supplier community. Additionally, Barton Health has developed and implemented a supplier diversity policy statement that promotes the use of diverse suppliers and has partnered with its prime supplier to measure and report on spend with diverse suppliers.

Barton Health's Supply Chain department plans to partner with its executive leadership to establish a percentage goal for purchasing products through diverse suppliers contracted with its GPO. Barton Health also encourages diverse suppliers to get their certification through an authorized certification body prior to contract award.
