6. Procurement Process and Certification

Please describe your hospital's procurement process

All suppliers are eligible to participate in the BHC Alhambra Hospital bidding process. The hospital primarily uses contracts negotiated by Premier, our Group Purchasing Organization. Premier helps BHC Alhambra Hospital to continue to grow its diversity spending. Premier's sourcing process is open to all suppliers. When an MWDVBE (Minority, Women, Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise) and small business expresses interest, it triggers Premier to send them pre-sourcing information. If they complete the RFI and RFP, they continue through the sourcing process and have the opportunity to be awarded the business. Their status as a diverse supplier is highlighted during the award process. Premier also has a SEEDS program (Sourcing, Education, and Enrichment of Diverse Suppliers). If a supplier is certified as an MWDVBE, they could potentially be considered for mid-contract addition, which would shorten the pathway for approval. BHC Alhambra Hospital also plans to increase spending with US Based Domestic suppliers in the coming year, many of which are diverse suppliers.
