1. Policy Statement

Supplier Diversity Policy Statement

The Hospital and its leaders are committed to fostering economic inclusion and equity and ensuring fair opportunities for all businesses. The Hospital will actively seek out, identify and do business with any suppliers including diverse suppliers that provide equitable services and goods that support the hospital’s mission, vision, and goals. The Hospital supports and leverages its group purchasing organization (GPO), HealthTrust Performance Group, LP (HealthTrust). HealthTrust provide a large portion of the purchases services procured by the Hospital. As such, the Hospital partners with HealthTrust and their active supplier diversity program.

2. Goals and Timetables

Please describe your hospital's short-term goals and timetables, but not quotas, for increasing procurement from women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises

The Hospital will continue to actively work with HealthTrust who reviews Prospective Supplier Profiles (PSP) submitted via its website, as well as the attendance by Hospital and HealthTrust representatives at local, regional, and national trade shows by various advocacy groups. Vendors and suppliers interested in participating with HealthTrust will be considered based on the level of service, products, Diverse providers will be referred to HealthTrust for inclusion in the program by employees and other suppliers.

As part of the Supplier Diversity Program, HealthTrust developed a Supplier Diversity Council. The mission of the Council is to ensure HealthTrust and its members maximize their supplier diversity initiatives by developing industry best practices and promoting diverse supplier opportunities. The goals identified by the council include the establishment of supplier diversity best practices, communicate and identify diverse supplier opportunities, and increase utilization of diverse suppliers where possible.

The Hospital overall mission, vision, and values encourages nondiscrimination in any form and enhance inclusion and diversity which is communicated through its Guiding Principles. Those Guiding Principles are communicated through staff education and training, discussions at routine committee meetings, and All Staff meetings that are held routinely.

HealthTrust assists the Hospital with outreach including active support (financially and/or through participation) various national organizations including but not limited to the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the Women's Business Enterprise National Council, the HealthCare Supplier Diversity Alliance, and the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Please describe the methods in which your hospital supports, partners with, or interacts with organizations and other entities in the procurement ecosystem that promote, certify, or contract with women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises

The Hospital resolves issues through frequent communications with HealthTrust including those related to diverse suppliers' issues. Identification of an issue is immediately brought forward to HealthTrust representatives for resolution during routine scheduled calls/meetings. This process would be utilized should an issue be identified.

6. Procurement Process and Certification

Please describe your hospital's procurement process

The Hospital procures supplies and vendors utilizing the HealthTrust listing of vendors. Supplies are purchased based on the needs of patient population served. Assessment and decision regarding the vendor are based on the following in order of priority 1) the clinical appropriateness 2) the efficacy of the product or service. After those primary decision factors are met, vendors that provide the clinical appropriate/efficacious products are compared with consideration of the purchase value (best price and service). Reevaluation of the vendor occurs periodically to verify efficiency and ensure that they continue to meet our clinical needs.
