The County of San Mateo encourages inclusion and diversity and is welcoming to all communities. The County endeavors to ensure that all postings of contracting opportunities are inclusive and widespread and encourages diverse applicants. As a government entity, however, the County is prohibited from creating policies that create any preferential treatment of vendors based on race, sex or ethnicity as it is subject California Proposition 209, which prohibits state governmental institutions from considering race, sex, or ethnicity in contracting or employment.
