Please describe your hospital's long-term goals and timetables, but not quotas, for increasing procurement from women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises
CommonSpirit Health is deeply committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive supply chain that reflects the communities we serve. We are actively working towards increasing procurement from Women-owned Business Enterprises (WBEs), Minority-owned Business Enterprises (MBEs), LGBT-owned Business Enterprises (LGBTBEs), and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (DVBEs). Our long-term goals center around creating a sustainable and equitable procurement process. This involves several key initiatives: Supplier Diversity Program Enhancement: We are continuously refining our supplier diversity program to improve outreach, onboarding, and support for diverse suppliers. This includes actively participating in supplier diversity events, partnering with relevant organizations, and improving our organization’s resources to help diverse businesses navigate our procurement processes. Data Collection and Analysis: CommonSpirit Health has a method for tracking diverse spend and continues to work to improve data collection capabilities to better understand the current representation of diverse suppliers within our vendor base. Our team continues to identify areas where we can focus our efforts and measure our progress more effectively. Strategic Partnerships: We are actively fostering and seeking strategic partnerships with organizations that support diverse businesses. These partnerships help us expand our network of qualified diverse suppliers and provide them with access to opportunities within our hospital system. While specific timetables for achieving these goals are subject to ongoing review and adjustment based on market conditions and internal resource allocation, we are committed to making steady progress in increasing procurement from diverse suppliers. We encourage diverse businesses to register as potential suppliers through the CommonSpirit Health's Diverse Vendor Portal.
3. Outreach and Communication
Please describe the methods in which the hospital encourages and seeks out both prime and subcontract suppliers from women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers
CommonSpirit identifies diverse vendors through: -Diverse Vendor database available through a third party supplier diversity vendor. -Vendor diversity self-identification by vendor during RFP and contracting process. -Direct vendor input through CommonSpirit’s third-party supplier diversity vendor portal. -Additional vendor opportunity documentation provided by partners (i.e., distributors). - Tier 2 program promotes use of diverse subcontractors as it relates to business done with CommonSpirit from a National contracting perspective. As one of the nation's largest nonprofit health care organizations, CommonSpirit is uniquely positioned to lead health equity. We know our health shouldn't depend on our zip code, economic status, or the color of our skin, and we actively work to scale supplier diversity efforts and targets in order to enhance local and national partnerships and investments. This means our supply chain team includes a series of questions to engage with each vendor. These questions are designed to establish vendor accountability towards health equity, create transparency and awareness of our performance against policy guidelines, and share expectations around supplier diversity's impact on promoting diversity in suppliers and health equity.
Please describe the methods in which the hospital encourages its employees involved in procurement to seek out women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises to become potential suppliers
CommonSpirit Health's Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (ODEIB), and Supply Chain Supplier Diversity leadership, have recently been enhancing collaborative efforts. Through joint conversations, we are establishing a more coordinated and aligned approach to initiatives that share common goals and impact. CommonSpirit has language integrated into direct vendor agreements, contract supplemental addendums, and our vendor RFP process, enabling vendors to easily report diversity codes and submit certification documentation directly to our Supply Chain team. The Supply Chain Supplier Diversity team engages with hospital-based Health Equity Liaisons to raise awareness and provide training on supplier diversity goals and strategy at CommonSpirit, and to support and encourage those involved in local procurement decisions to engage with local, small and diverse businesses. Liaisons have been encouraged to set supplier goals for Fiscal Year 2027 that would support developing awareness and engagement at their hospital, and could lead toward more rigorous goals in the future. Our supply chain has developed a diversity strategy in which diverse vendors are validated through a third party supplier diversity partner using vendor information from our Enterprise Resource Planning system, allowing us to identify actionable areas of spend and implement policies, goals and practices to support and increase our diverse procurement.
Please describe the methods in which the hospital conducts outreach and communication to women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises
Through our contracting processes vendors are notified of opportunities within various categories of spend considered actionable for diverse vendors. We have plans to define categories of actionable spend in supply chain, purchased services and local contracting opportunities, which will support greater outreach to those interested in our business opportunities.
4. Support and Supplier Resolutions
Please describe the methods in which your hospital supports, partners with, or interacts with organizations and other entities in the procurement ecosystem that promote, certify, or contract with women, minority, LGBT, and disabled veteran business enterprises
CommonSpirit is actively involved with the Center for Community Wealth, a Denver metro organization dedicated to closing economic and racial wealth gaps. CommonSpirit is also an active member of Denver Anchor Network and works with peers to uplift the local economy where we serve. CommonSpirit Health was a signatory of Healthcare Anchor Network’s (HAN) Impact Purchasing Commitment (IPC), which finalized in 2025, which included commitments to track spend and identify potential opportunities to do business with diverse businesses. We remain a member of the Healthcare Anchor Network. CommonSpirit seeks to close supplier diversity gaps within our supply chain and encourages peer health care organizations and our vendors to do the same.
Please describe the methods in which your hospital resolves any issues that may limit or impede an enterprise from becoming a supplier
Our hospital is committed to ensuring a fair and accessible procurement process for all potential suppliers.
