1. Top 10 Disparities

The following table lists the ten largest health equity disparities identified for this reporting period.

Disparities for each hospital equity measure are identified by comparing the rate ratios by stratification groups. Rate ratios are calculated differently for measures with preferred low rates and those with preferred high rates. Rate ratios are calculated after applying the California Health and Human Services Agency's "Data De-Identification Guidelines (DDG)," dated September 23, 2016.

The table below highlights the ten widest health equity disparities identified by hospitals and hospital systems during this reporting period. Measure names have been shortened for display purposes. 2. Equity Plan

To effectively address disparities in screening rates, it is essential to continue disaggregating data by language, race, gender identity, and sexual orientation to clearly identify where gaps exist. Once these disparities are visible, the next step is to examine the barriers contributing to them, such as limited language access due to a lack of interpreters or translated materials, provider bias or insufficient cultural competency, and broader structural challenges like insurance coverage, stigma, or mistrust of the healthcare system. In addition to quantitative analysis, gathering qualitative input through focus groups with underrepresented patients will provide valuable insights into their lived experiences, helping to shape interventions that are both culturally responsive and patient centered.
