The County Medical Services Program (CMSP) Loan Repayment Program assists with the repayment of qualified educational loans for primary care healthcare professionals who provide healthcare services at an approved site located in the 35 CMSP counties.

Hospital Fair Billing Program (HFBP) is responsible for enforcement of the laws regarding health care debt and fair billing, as set forth at Article 1, Chapter 2.5, Part 2, Division 107 of the Health and Safety Code (section 127400, et seq.), including requirements for hospital discount payment, charity care, and debt collection policies.

The awards support 565 student slots, an increase of 153 slots from the previous application cycle.

The purpose of this program is to increase the number of appropriately trained Allied Healthcare professionals and encourage them to provide direct patient care in CMSP-designated counties in California. If awarded, recipients agree to continue practicing full time, direct patient care at a qualified facility in California for a twelve (12) month service obligation. Applicants may be awarded up to three (3) times.
