Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center is committed to supporting the local community by contracting with underserved minority businesses. Traditional underrepresented businesses will include small businesses, minority-owned business enterprises, women-owned business enterprises, LGBTQ owned business enterprises, and disabled veteran-owned businesses.
2. Goals and Timetables

• Strengthen staff knowledge and capacity by participating in supplier diversity roundtables hosted by Communities Lifting Communities and the Hospital Association of Southern California twice a year. • Join/continue to participate in the quarterly Hospital Supplier Diversity Committee meetings hosted by Communities Lifting Communities and the Hospital Association of Southern California to stay informed of regional strategies, emerging best practices to engage diverse vendors, and policy updates, while fostering collaboration and shared accountability to advance equitable procurement across Southern California. • Engage in the monthly peer mentorship group opportunity through the Hospital Supplier Diversity Committee, either by serving as a mentor to support hospitals building their programs or by joining a mentorship group to strengthen internal capacity and accelerate program development. • Attend the annual supplier diversity in health care conference (Oct 2025) hosted by Communities Lifting Communities and the Hospital Association of Southern California to expand relationships with certified diverse vendors and increase the hospital’s visibility as an inclusive and accessible contracting partner. • In 2025, Pilot the use of the Health Care Inclusive Procurement List with the hospital’s procurement team to encourage proactive outreach to certified diverse vendors for upcoming contract opportunities. This pilot aims to embed inclusive sourcing practices into day-to-day procurement workflows and expand access to underutilized but qualified vendors.

• Participate in future regional initiatives led by Communities Lifting Communities and the Hospital Association of Southern California to provide technical assistance and capacity-building support to diverse businesses, increasing the number of Businesses that are able to meet hospital contracting needs. • Participate in the upcoming Southern California Regional Impact Purchasing Collaborative and commit to being an active part of a cross-sector ecosystem that connects the health care industry with economic development organizations supporting diverse vendors. Through this collaboration, the hospital will contribute to regional strategies that uplift, train, and connect diverse businesses with meaningful procurement opportunities, advancing inclusive economic growth and health equity.
3. Outreach and Communication

The PVHMC procurement leadership participates in events, conferences, and collaborative sessions facilitated by Communities Lifting Communities and the Hospital Association of Southern California to better understand communication gaps and supplier needs. In 2024, PVHMC implemented diversity codes within our platforms to create improved visibility of the diversity status of our existing vendors to our procurement team. In May of 2024, PVHMC emailed all of our existing vendors and encouraged them to register their diversity status with Supplier Gateway, our vendor diversity partner and platform. In 2024, we added the collection of diversity status to the onboarding process of new vendors. In 2024, we added diversity language to all requests for proposal, bids, and quotes we produce, encouraging vendors to communicate their diversity status to us and become registered as a diverse vendor.

These events are focused on creating opportunities for underrepresented businesses to engage directly with the PVHMC Procurement Team and allow us to showcase our commitment to supplier diversity initiatives and explore potential contracting opportunities.

PVHMC supports outreach events alongside Communities Lifting Communities and the Hospital Association of Southern California, focused on creating opportunities for underrepresented businesses to engage directly with diverse businesses, showcase our commitment to supplier diversity initiatives, and explore potential contracting opportunities.

PVHMC is committed to fostering inclusive, collaborative supplier relationships by helping enterprises overcome barriers to becoming suppliers. We offer information, consultations, and clear guidance to help vendors understand our procurement processes, compliance requirements, and quality standards. If criteria are not initially met, we provide constructive feedback and outline improvement steps when possible. Our Supply Chain Team is readily available to address inquiries and provide support at every stage, ensuring capable and qualified enterprises are empowered to join our supplier network.
5. Diversity Commission Recommendations and Planned Implementations
Please describe the past implementation of relevant recommendations made by the Hospital Supplier Diversity Commission
PVHMC has implemented the following recommendations from HSDC and, in many cases, followed the spirit of these recommendations by implementing internal protocols that support them. 1. PVHMC leadership created a supplier diversity policy statement that promotes the use of diverse suppliers. 2. PVHMC leadership developed and implemented a hospital supplier diversity procurement metrics which are produced by our GPO partner (Vizient), our Diversity Platform Partner, Supplier Gateway and our Primary Distributor (Owens & Minor). 3. PVHMC leadership developed and implemented procurement processes and policies to document and mitigate internal criteria that may limit or impede diverse suppliers’ ability to competitively respond to bids. 4. PVHMC leadership developed and implemented a supplier diversity webpage through our diversity partner, Supplier Gateway to inform diverse suppliers on the hospital's procurement process, allow them to identify themselves as diverse, provide certification information as well, and provide them our contact information. 5. PVHMC leadership requires our primary distributor partner and our GPO partner to measure and report on spend with diverse suppliers. 6. PVHMC leadership has incorporated diversity language in processes related to onboarding new vendors. 7. PVHMC leadership has incorporated diversity language into all contracts, requests for bids, quotes, and pricing. 8. PVHMC leadership encourages all enterprises to obtain their certification through an authorized certification body. This was reinforced in May of 2024 with an email to all current vendors and through communication of our partnership with Supplier Gateway.

As a Vizient® GPO Member, Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center is committed to economic development through greater supplier choice. We look to our Vizient GPO to offer agreements with high-performing and price-competitive suppliers, as well as provide expertise and robust data reporting capabilities, to help us attain our diversity goals. The Vizient Supplier Diversity Program supports the development of minority-, woman-, disability-, LGBT- and veteran-owned business enterprises that meet high-quality standards. Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center implemented Supplier Gateway, the Vizient selected the Supplier Information Management (SIM) Software to accelerate our ability to identify and promote diverse vendors available to our procurement team.
